Μέσα στον καταιγισμό των ειδήσεων για την οικονομική κρίση, την ύφεση στην ανάπτυξη, την αβεβαιότητα για το μέλλον του τόπου μας και όλα τα σχετικά με τα δημοσιονομικά μεγέθη που πιθανόν να έχουν μετατρέψει την γαλήνη της ψυχή μας σε « πεδίο βολής φτηνό, » « σαν κρίνο ολάνθιστο » προβάλει και φέτος η Μεγάλη Σαρακοστή πάντα ταπεινή και μακριά από τον θόρυβο της πόλης.
Έρχεται να δώσει νόημα στην ζωή μας, να μας αποτοξινώσει από τα οικονομικά μεγέθη των ελλειμμάτων ενός απρόσωπου κράτους και να μας θυμίσει τα ελλείμματα του προσώπου μας που είναι αποτέλεσμα της « υπέρογκης αύξησης των επιτοκίων » των παθών μας που αυτά πραγματικά περιορίζουν τα όρια της ελευθερίας μας εντός ενός επικίνδυνου πεδίου αδιαφορίας που αν δεν μας οδηγήσει στον πνευματικό θάνατο μια ώρα αρχύτερα θα μας κρατήσει φυλακισμένους δηλαδή αποκομμένους από την πηγή της ζωής που είναι ο δημιουργός μας.
Η πνευματική μας φυλακή , είναι γνωστό, μας αποξενώνει και από τον συνάνθρωπο, και απ΄ όλη την κτίση και συσκοτίζει τον νου με αποτέλεσμα τον αργό και βασανιστικό θάνατο.
Η Μεγάλη Σαρακοστή είναι η μεγάλη ευκαιρία που φιλάνθρωπα η αγία μας Εκκλησία θέσπισε για να αποδράσουμε από αυτή την φυλακή, να συμφιλιωθούμε με τον Κύριό μας και να επανατοποθετηθούμε στο αιώνιο κάλεσμά του με την μετάνοια, την «Θύραν της Χάριτος» την « πορεία από το κατ' εικόνα στο καθ' ομοίωση » κατά τους θείους Πατέρες.

Φυσικά η μετάνοια δεν είναι μια ανθρώπινη μεμονωμένη πράξη και μόνο των ημερών της Μεγάλης Σαρακοστής, είναι μια διαρκής κατάσταση που χαρακτηρίζει όλη την ζωή μας και αν προσωρινά χάσουμε τον στόχο μας αυτόν η Μεγάλη Σαρακοστή έρχεται να μας το θυμίσει και να μας δείξει το πώς θα μετανοήσουμε.
Εκείνος που μετανοεί έχει διαπιστώσει και παραδέχεται ότι έχει απομακρυνθεί από την πατρική στοργή του θεού και δεν κοινωνεί αγαπητικά πια μαζί του αλλά ούτε και με τον συνάνθρωπό του με αποτέλεσμα ως ύπαρξη να ζει απομονωμένος.
Συνεπώς η μετάνοια είναι δώρο του Θεού σ΄ εμάς τα παιδιά του για να βρούμε το νόημά μας , τον στόχο μας, την ψυχή μας,. να αφυπνίσουμε την ύπαρξή μας και να πραγματοποιήσουμε την κοινωνία της αγάπης με Εκείνον και όλη την δημιουργία.
Στον τόπο μας έχουμε δυσκολίες και κανείς δεν το αμφισβητεί , όμως η οικονομική αυτή κρίση είναι συνέπεια της ηθικής κρίσεως, συνέπεια πάλι της απομακρύνσεώς μας από τον Θεό και της απομονώσεώς μας στο κυνήγι της προσωπικής ευδαιμονίας.
Όλοι μας λίγο ως πολύ ξεχάσαμε την Σαρακοστή και σαγηνευτήκαμε από την λογική της ευημερίας με συνέπεια να πιαστούμε στον ιστό της αράχνης ενός ελεγχόμενου συστήματος ανήμποροι να αντιδράσουμε. Ο επιούσιος άρτος δεν ήταν αρκετός να θρέψει την αδηφάγα ψυχή μας και ορθώσαμε πύργους να αποθηκεύσουμε ξένες και πρόσκαιρες ελπίδες. Η ασκητική της Εκκλησίας μοιάζει σαν να μην υπάρχει πουθενά και η αγία στέρηση από μέσον παιδαγωγικό έγινε ο μεγαλύτερος εφιάλτης μας.
Από το σαλόνι του σπιτιού μας και την πολυθρόνα του υπολογιστή μας απευθύνουμε λόγους περί νηστείας, αγρυπνίας και κακοπάθειας χωρίς να έχουμε την παραμικρή αίσθηση του τι σημαίνουν αυτά. Λόγια παχιά που προσθέτονται στα τόσα ακαταλαβίστικα λόγια της εποχής μας που η Βαβυλωνία μοιάζει σαν φροντιστήριο ξένων γλωσσών.
Για να φτάσουμε στον στόχο αυτό να ικανοποιήσουμε το εγώ μας ακολουθήσαμε δρόμους φτηνούς και στερήσαμε από τον συνάνθρωπό το δικαίωμα να ζήσει αύριο με αξιοπρέπεια. Αδιαφορώντας για τις υποχρεώσεις μας όλα αυτά τα χρόνια προς το κράτος που έχει πρόσωπο και είναι το παιδί μας, ο γονιός μας, ο γνωστός και ο άγνωστός μας, δείχνοντας μάλιστα ασέβεια και στον κόπο τους πολλές φορές με ασυλλόγιστες σπατάλες φτάσαμε στο χείλος του γκρεμού και μάλιστα δεσμώτες.
Η μεγάλη έξοδος απ΄ αυτήν την φυλακή των παθών μας μπορεί να γίνει μόνο με την μετάνοιά μας σε όλα τα επίπεδα με προτεραιότητα σε εκείνο της πνευματικής ζωής, με την επιστροφή μας στην πατρική οικία, να πέσουμε στην ζεστή αγκαλιά του Πατέρα και Δημιουργού μας ζητώντας ταπεινά το έλεός Του. Να ρίξουμε το βλέμμα μας στον συνάνθρωπό μας, να απαλύνουμε τον πόνο του να του ζητήσουμε συγνώμη και άλλα πολλά που θα ενεργοποιήσουν τις ευαίσθητες χορδές μας για να εξωτερικεύσουμε την δημιουργική δύναμη που μας προσφέρει την ίδια την ζωή δηλαδή την όντως αγάπη που πηγάζει από τον Τριαδικό μας Θεό.
Προϋπόθεση όμως αυτής της αγαπητικής προσφοράς προς τους άλλους είναι η εν Χριστώ πορεία μας ώστε να νοιώσουμε πρώτοι εμείς την ζεστή αγάπη Του.
Μέσα στην αοριστία της έννοιας της αγάπης που ο κόσμος στηρίζει και στηρίζεται για να βρει άλλοθι και να αναπαύσει την ψυχή του ότι έκανε δηλαδή το χρέος του με μέσα εξωτερικά χωρίς ουσία και μόνο στους ελαχίστους ή εμπερίστατους αδελφούς, η εκκλησίας μας διδάσκει ότι αγάπη είναι το πλήρωμα της μαρτυρίας και διακονίας του χριστιανού στον κόσμο όλο.
